A long time coming.

It has been for some time that I have wanted to start a blog. I did briefly last fall but quickly stopped posting to it after only a few weeks. Keeping up with it was made difficult by the fact that I was using iWeb to maintain it, making posting rather difficult as I had to carry my laptop at all times. Additionally, I have not previously had a topic for a blog and did not feel comfortable posting a personal diary on the Internet. Aside from obvious privacy issues, it is just weird.
Recently, I have thought a great deal about what I want to do in life and have come to only one conclusion: I want to have a real impact on the world around me. This has come with a more substantial awareness of the way things are.
All my life, I have seen the world in black and white; there is little gray out there. As a result, I have often called things as I have seen them. This has, on more than one occasion, gotten me into more than a little bit of trouble. Never the less, I think some things just need to be said.
The title of this blog, “the road ahead”, is a reference to the journey of life and, to some degree, the uncertainty of the future.
It is my intention that this will be a forum by which I offer insight and provoke thought on topics deemed relevant. I cannot promise I will be either popular or agreeable. My thoughts are clouded by my own perspective and natural biases and I will be the first to admit it. But I can promise that I will, as I always have, call them like I see them.
